After sending in the renewal application to the Canadian Embassy in Hong Kong, I realized that I had to travel in the next week or so. However they've stated I wouldn't receive it for another 15 days. I was advised to purchase my ticket anyway and come back with proof of travel and they would be able to speed up the process. However it turns out that they would only give me a temporary passport which takes 5 working days. I was not informed that depending on where to go, I would have to apply for a separate visa from the place of travel. Because of this lack of information, I have now booked and paid for a full trip flight/hotel but not enough time to apply for both temporary passport and visa. Is there any way possible to speed up the process in order to receive my new passport in a week?

I am suporting a person that was Here for vacation and got stolen, now he has nothing with him, no docs, no money., no nothing... I started to help him to ensure his dignity till he get home, but seems a never end story and even him in contact with Ottawa , they sent a passport that simply never arrived here and returned to them then sent it back again, now is stuck on Brazilian Customs bureaucracy ( as per their info ).
Now he said Ottawa confirmed they have an EXPRESS document done to ensure he can go back, BUT the document NEVER comes.

We just moved this past week & my husband's passport wasn't where it would normally be. Therefore, it was misplaced during the move. We are leaving on Thursday for Seattle. So, to make a long story short, my passport renewal application is currently being processed and I was told on the phone that everything was done, but that the mail out date was July 6th. I just found out that I NEED to travel to NY for just a day on the 8th, and now I'm really stressing out. Is there ANY way at all that I can have it mailed to me quicker? I wasn't in a rush before, or I would have done it in person instead of mailing it. Is there anything I can do? Anything at all?

I HAVE A QUESTION. I am leaving for Mexico on July 10, 2011 (a Sunday) and the passport office told me I can pick up my passport on July 8, 2011. That's the absolute last date to get my passport. Has anyone had problems with their pick up time? Do you think I will be guaranteed to get my passport on that date? I'm SO scared that I will not be able to go on my trip if they have a problem getting my passport on time.

Any info would be great, hopefully no one has had problems when they had a pick up date!

I called the 1-800-567-6868 number and they've told me they're not allowed to give out the number, but my boss is telling me that he's called the number before. So, it is 9pm Thursday May 12th, and I am booked to leave Edmonton to Mexico, 9am Fri the 13th...Only to realize that my passport is expired! Thinking it is the end, and the whole trip is down the drain.

But, luckily, there is a way to make it work.

How to get a Same-Day Passport in Canada

1. You need to get a new set of passport photos
2. Two Individuals you have known for atleast 3 years who have a passport (You will need their contact info: Name, address, phone number)
3. The expired passport
4. MOST IMPORTANT: Proof of flight, leaving within 24hours from current time.

Once you have all these things, you need to go into Canada Place (Edmonton) or the main Passport Office in your city.
The process takes about 4 hours. They just need to be able to contact the people you leave as references, so make sure they are available.

I renewed my passport just before I "moved" down here and will have to renew it again in a couple years. Passport is expiring soon. I live in the US with a student VISA, which is good till I finish. However my passport is expiring right before I return to Canada for summer break. But I don't want to send in my passport to renew and risk not getting it back in time to come home. I am in Canada till Saturday and going to try to go to the office and renew it before I go back to the US but obviously cannot give them my old passport because I need it to get back to school. I have been trying to get hold of someone about my passport with no luck, wouldn't ya know?! If you go in to renew your passport can you keep the old one till you get the new one?

Just wanted to let people know, yes you can get a passport the same day in an emergency. You need to call the emergency number for the passport office and let them know the situation. A passport clerk will call you back and you will need to meet him/her where ever the office is. If you have your old passport, new picture, filled out forms and proof of travel (ie. you plane ticket), you can get one the same day for $307.00, $220.00 + passport fee. I just did it for a trip to the Bahamas. I didnt realize your passport had to be valid for 6 moths past your date of travel for a visa. The whole process took about 4 hours here in Ottawa. I hope this helps someone.

They said I will have to do paperwork and have him courier or mail original copy with his signature and fax isnt sufficient. We did this; I received the document on the 24th of February, he had it overnight couriered to the company he is a subcontract for here in Alberta where I picked up the envelope. I went to passport office, and asked for a rush on the passport because my husband hasnt seen his son in 4 weeks; she said that if he's not in the country when he signed the passport that it's not valid, BUT if I can give her a copy of the envelope that it was couriered in to me by fax, that she will issue it. She said a copy of the envelope is fine, but when i got back to work, i realized the waybill that was in the plastic insert was missing, im assuming the company he's working for kept it considering they paid the shipping. We tried to get a copy with no luck. The passport office called me looking for it, I explained i cant get it, and she said the only way is for him to go to Houston Consulate office and sign some document stating he signed the application. My husband goes to the Houston office, and they do not do any passport services there, only in Dallas which is about 5 hour drive to get to from where he was. It seems they are making up rules as they go; when I originally called to see what we require, there was no mention on having copies of waybill for the shipment, nor was there any requirement to go to office in Houston. I am mad they sent us on a wild goose chase in Houston. Is there a rule that a parent cannot sign a passport application if they arent physically in Canada?

^My Canadian passport will expire soon, i live in europe. Right now i am in Switzerland visiting my family. So since i was here i decided to apply for a new passport and just the day i was sending the aplication and all the other documents required from the embassy, my nephew got hold of my passport and torn all the pages in small pieces. Only the page with picture and personal information its good. I called the embassy and told them what happened, they said its not a problem sinnce my passport was expiring anyways. After a week they asked to go to the embassy and sign some papers and the officer who is in charge of my aplication said to me that i might not get a passport at all because my old passport was damaged. I was shocked i mean these things happen passport get lost, stolen damaged. I contacted the passport office and they werent any help. What should i do if i get denied for a passport?I need to get my passport soon so i can go home to my son and my husband.

So I am a Canadian citizen living in the US as a permanent resident, and my passport and Green Card were stolen over the summer. I am over 16 years old, but I haven't gotten a driver's license or learner's permit yet. I sent in an application for an Adult Canadian Citizen passport recently, and I sent in an old passport that expired about a year ago, my Canadian birth certificate, a copy of the passport that was stolen, and a copy of the green card that was stolen. I was called by Passport Canada and informed that I needed to send in secondary ID, but the problem is that I have no secondary ID.

The Passport Canada people are completely unhelpful even though it says in the instructions to call them if you don't have secondary ID. They keep telling me that I need a secondary ID, and it's like the can't understand that I do NOT HAVE any ID. When I talked to the Canadian consulate in the US, they said that the information and old ID I sent in should be fine, so what is the problem? Is there any way this can be resolved quickly, or will I have to wait 6 months to get my new green card before I can finally get my passport? Because that's just ridiculous.
I can't get my learner's permit or travel anywhere without my passport.

I need to renew my passport. I noticed that one of the criteria is that the Issuing authority must be in Canada. I renewed my passport 5 years ago while I was living in Italy. On my passport is says Issuing country: Canada and Issuing office: Milan. So which is the Issuing Authority? I'm guessing that it means that as I was not in Canada and I have to redo everything but I was a little confused by the Issuing Country part. Any idea if I can go ahead with a renewal or do i have to do it again? Thanks in advance for the help.

I am a Canadian citizen in the US. I have a US wife and son. Last night my wallat and passport was accidently left in a shopping cart and when we called and went back to check for it, it was never turned it. (Now PLEASE save your reprimands on how I could be so stupid to keep ALL My ID and passport on me and in the same place at all times, I know I know, it was stupid, I get that now, but it doesn't change my problem now, so please no comments on that) I am now stuck here with NO ID at all whatsoever. We were literally 2 or 3 weeks away from sending our papers to the USCIS for my greencard (waiting on the medical exam apt) and then BOOM, all my stuff is now gone. What do I need to do now? Am I going to HAVE to go back to Canada to get all my ID back so I can file? I don't want to go back to Canada yet without filing for my green card yet. I don't have the money to sustain the trip right now, and it is possible they won't let me back in and I have a family here in the US now, I NEED to be let back in. Is there ANY way I can take care of this from inside the US? I'm trying to find out any info I can while I wait for the Consulate to call me back.
